Updating ssl cert for iis
There are a number of places where you can get SSL certificates.
The best deal I've found is Start SSL which Joe Davis recommended to me, and that is where we got our wildcard SSL certificate.
You will have received your certificate file from us, usually named 'your_domain_com.cer'.
Alternatively, you may have received it as several files: 'your_domain_com.crt' and intermediate certificates UTNAdd Trust Server_and Network Solutions_6.
Close the 'Add Standalone Snap-in' window and click 'OK' in the 'Add/Remove Snap-in' Window.7. Install/Import the Root and Intermediates Certificate* Root1.
Expand the Certificates section by clicking on the plus ( ) sign and turn it to a minus (-) sign to expose the 'Certificates' tree.2.
Once you have received your signed certificate by email you should copy and paste it into a text editor, such as Notepad.
Standard and OV SSL certificates can be renewed for a maximum of 3 years.

It is important that when you generate the CSR you generate it for *.not for any specific host like sure you use *.Make sure you set the bit length to 2048 You can save the certificate request as a file and open it in a text editor so you can copy the request and paste it when completing the steps to obtain an SSL certificate.
When you receive your certificate it will be just a text file, save it on disk on your server with a extension, then you click the link in IIS for "Complete Certificate Request" (shown in the 2nd screen shot above).
